Our ideals
At Little Jays Pre-school we are committed to providing a safe, caring and stimulating environment for young children to learn through play. We believe early years care and education plays an essential role in ensuring children have the best possible start in life and are passionate about supporting and enabling all children to fulfil their potential. We encourage children to develop confidence and self-esteem in an environment where they and their families are welcomed, respected and valued.
Supporting children’s development
Little Jays Pre-school implement the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which sets standards for the learning, development and care of your child from birth to 5 years old. We do this by planning and providing an enjoyable and stimulating environment with a variety of interesting activities appropriate for the child’s age and stage of development. We encourage children to build friendships and have fun!
Each child is treated as an individual, recognising that they will develop at their own rate in the various areas of learning. We welcome children with additional needs.
Staff
Our staff and volunteers are committed to providing the highest quality of care. They are all experienced in working with young children and have an excellent knowledge of child development in the early years. Additionally, we have all been approved by the DBS (previously CRB) for working with children.
Staff receive Paediatric First Aid training, renewed every 3 years, and Child Protection training. Staff regularly attend courses on other aspects of early years care and education through the West Sussex County Council Early Childhood Service.
